Dream Bigger

Today you are taking fearless action by listening to the deep desires of your heart, remembering that God put those desires there. There are many reasons why we don't take the time to listen to our hearts desires. The biggest perhaps being the fear of disappointment if they do not come true. So we settle for living small and underneath our potential. Today I ask, are you settling for too little? Are you convinced that you are limited in some way? When Gods Universe brings you opportunities, do you step out boldly in faith, expecting the best or do you shrink back in fear convinced you are unqualified, not ready, or not good enough? In our meditation today, we are remembering that God is ever expansive and always creating. He will always be putting new ideas, desires, and dreams into your heart. He will always bring you new opportunities. Will you listen to His beckoning or to your excuses to stay stuck where you are?

One thing is for sure, once you dare to listen to your heart and hear it's deep longings, it will almost be impossible to not follow it into the life you were born to live. Are you ready?

Divine Timing

There is a phrase I use in my book "What Would Angels Do?" that says Patience is Pretty. I coined that phrase while standing in a supermarket line noticing a very impatient customer who eventually lost his mind and started making a scene about how long it was taking to purchase his items. His fit was not unlike the babies and children in line who had also lost patience and were starting to whine and cry with boredom. I realized that the things we do while feeling impatient lead us to do some ugly things. Not just in lines and traffic, but in life as well.

Have you ever given up on a project or a dream because it was taking so long you decided it would never happen? Or have you ever felt that God wasn't listening to your prayers because your requests for help or guidance seemed never to come to pass? Throwing in the towel, walking away, and quitting because you are feeling impatient, ignored, frustrated, and fed up are natural feelings. However those who believe in Divine Timing are more prone to stick it out and witness their miracle.

Divine Timing is the understanding that this universe has a rhythm and cycle that comes at us in waves. Just because you have your surfboard out and you are ready to ride that wave, doesn't mean that one is going to come right now. Life requires patience and faith. Patience is actually something I believe we are all here to master. It is a sign of emotional maturity and a high level of self development. In today's meditation, we are rededicating ourselves to our dreams, we are asking for patience and strength. We are realigning to the truth that God is moving mountains and oceans to bring you the best- and very often this takes time. With a smile on your face, choose to be pretty, choose to stay in faith, to master patience, and to wait for Divine Timing to produce miracles in your life!

Creativity

Whether or not you have ever experienced yourself in a creative flow, you ARE creative. Made in the image of the ultimate Creator, you have within you what it takes to create your dream life. No, you may not paint like Monet, you may not dance like Michael Jackson, and your voice might scare children. No matter- we aren't talking about talents today. We are talking about the creative force that everyone has access to. It is our birthright to express our creativity. When recognized and harnessed, this creative force can be utilized to create good in your life and the world around you. Let's tap in, shall we? Enjoy today's Monday Meditation.

Clear Yourself

We all accumulate negative energies throughout the days, weeks, and months. Just like we can accumulate germs that eventually make us sick if we don't wash our hands or clean ourselves, negative energies can become toxic over time if we don't wash our energy. Think of a whale in the ocean. Over time of being in the salty sea, they begin to develop barnacles that weigh them down. In fact, researchers have found some whales to carry thousands of pounds of barnacles at a time! Have you ever felt like you were carrying a thousand pounds of stress and negativity? If you have, you definitely want to watch today's meditation.

Researchers also report that when whales migrate back to their breeding grounds, that the barnacles are removed by other parasites that live in their home area, making them feel lighter. This could be a metaphor for meditation, when we experience that calm sense of "home," we are able to shed the heaviness.

I spend a lot of time teaching people how to clear negative energy in my 6 Week Clarity Mentorship. For me, this is the foundation of your spiritual practice. Without the ability to clear away the darkness, it is often hard to really hear divine guidance and direction. That is why I believe there are so many ways you can clear yourself. Meditation is just one of many. Enjoy the clearing!

Change Is Good

The only thing constant in this world is change. There are two types of changes we experience in our life:

1. A change that occurs through a positive or negative unexpected circumstance.
2.A change that we consciously decide to create.

The first type of change can cause unexpected stress, grief, and sudden feelings of insecurity. These are the kinds of changes we tend to fear because they are usually caused by an event that happens outside of our control. This would include a death, divorce, loss of job, or a scary diagnosis. This type of change can also be caused by a happy occurrence such as a marriage proposal, winning money, getting the promotion you thought you weren't qualified for, or meeting your soul mate. Therefore, these kinds of changes can also bring a burst of faith, hope, happiness, and safety.

The second type of change occurs when you innately feel it is time to move on or into something new. This can also be scary, but you tend to feel more in control of the situation. Feelings can range from exhilaration to anxiety, but the point is that you are the one instigating the change and you are learning how to stand behind your new decisions.

Both types of change can cause a level of stress and there are ways to manage your stress through the changes:

1. Know when you need help and ask for it. Who are the people you can go to for assistance, support, or just a listening ear. It might also be a good time to look into getting a mentor, coach, or therapist who can help you cope with things.

2. Massive self care. Whether you instigated the change or not, and no matter what your stress levels are, you deserve to be taking care of yourself in massive ways. Ask yourself what you need. What do you do to take care of yourself? Nature walk? Salt bath? Dancing? Reading in a quiet space? Do the things that fill your soul.

3. Acceptance vs resistance. I write about this in my book, "What Would Angels Do?" Basically, anything you are resisting can get really uncomfortable and you can actually become a really toxic person by being in resistance to change over the course of time. Acceptance doesn't necessarily mean you agree with the change, it just means you are willing to take a realistic look at what is actually happening outside of your wish for it to be different. This is the only way you can start making decisions on how to cope and move forward. As hard is it may be sometimes to accept things as they are, staying stuck in the "what if's" and "I don't want this!" is a lot more painful.

Let's explore how you feel about change, heal any wounds that came from unexpected change, and ask ourselves what healthy changes we need to make now in today's meditation. Enjoy!

Celebration

Not only is it okay to celebrate yourself, but it's necessary if you want to keep achieving success.

It's spring, the coffee is good, I hit all green lights, I actually got my son to school on time and he doesn't look like an orphan, my hair is into it's third day of curls and they are holding up, there are birds chirping, work is fantastic, dinner is going to be yummy, and I can't wait to take a relaxing bath tonight with a cup of floral tea and celebrate my day. Doesn't really sound like a typical Monday does it? Creating a magical day is up to you and it comes down to your ability to celebrate the little things in life.

So often, we forget to celebrate. You have accomplished things, big and small. Perhaps getting out of bed this morning was an accomplishment. Or maybe you're graduating, or it's somebody's birthday, or anniversary, or maybe you showed kindness and pose in the face of a conflict. How are you supposed to go on living your life if you don't pat yourself on the back once in a while? It is so normal to notice and focus on what is going wrong, and how stressed out you should be over things. But, this is no way to live. We all have the same 24 hours and it's your choice how you want to spend those hours. By adding today's meditation, you can count at least 5 minutes of your day as positive, uplifting time celebrating YOU and the life you are creating!

Believe In Yourself

Believe In Yourself

As children, we are taught to believe in certain ideals and "truths." Perhaps you were taught to believe in a religion, Santa Clause, or in the leaders of your country. You were also taught to believe certain things about yourself, your family, and the world around you. You were taught what was acceptable, what to frown on, and beliefs about your personal capabilities and limitations. As you grew and began to have your own experiences, some of those beliefs began to change. You probably stopped believing in Santa, and perhaps you have began to question what you are really capable of. Some of your initial beliefs about yourself may still make sense, but there may be other beliefs that make you feel unsettled. That is because it is time to explore them, to see if they are really in alignment with your life's purpose, or if they are just imaginary stories like Santa.

Underneath all of those beliefs is a deep seeded truth about who you really are. Under other people's projections, judgments, perceptions, teachings, and criticisms is a being who was made pure and whole in the image of it's Creator. Is it time for you to uncover old beliefs to see what you are really made of?

Enjoy this week's meditation and as always, I am sending you so much love, light, and everything right! Angel blessings!!

Believe In Miracles

Definition Of A Miracle:

1. A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
2. A highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences.
3. An effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.

I think we can all agree that the above definitions describe how we might view a miracle. However, I have come to understand something different about miracles...something very eye opening...something I'd like to share with you.

If you've read my book "What Would Angels Do?" or attended any of my events, you probably remember my own miracle story. In short, when I was a very young, poor, single mother I had an epiphany one evening as I was walking my son to the nearby McDonald's with the last two dollars I owned in my pocket. I saw a man begging on the side of the road, and I realized that if I were to give that man half of everything I owned- which at the time was literally a dollar- that I could for once be the giver instead of the taker. Something clicked in my mind that day, I realized that I had to stop identifying with being the statistical teen mother on welfare and I took action by giving something away that I needed. The next morning, I woke up worried and scared about my situation, but knew something inside of me had changed. When I opened my front door that morning, someone had put bags of groceries on my doorstep. Bags and bags of food and necessities. I couldn't believe it! To me, in the hopeless fearful state I was in, it might as well have been a million dollars. To me- it was a miracle.

Now, according to the definitions above, you too might think that waking up to a months worth of food when you're starving is a miracle. However, what I want to share with you is my definition of a miracle. You see, to me it wasn't the bags of groceries. To me the actual miracle was my realization the night before and the action that I took. The miracle was when God touched my heart and helped me to change my mind (the epiphany) so that I could be open to receiving a miraculous experience (the groceries). When it occurred to me to stop identifying with being the poor single mother on welfare, and to step up my game to become a giver, THAT was the miracle. That very day, I began to change my mind about who I was, and what my purpose is and therefore I changed the course of my entire life. THAT was the miracle. The groceries were the physical result of the miracle that occurred inside of me. There have been a series of things that have happened since then that seem miraculous, but I truly feel that the real miracle happened in my heart.

And that is how I view miracles. When I see something extraordinary, I always say to myself, "I wonder what miracle happened inside of that person's heart," or "I wonder what God changed inside of their mind for them to be able to experience this miraculous occurrence."

To me, miracles are unseen and they happen on the inside. What we see on the outside can bring us to tears and we stand in awe but is nothing still compared to the supernatural occurrence that first brought magic to us on the inside.

Enjoy today's meditation and remember that the moment you decide to change, miracles happen on the inside. Are you ready for your miracle?

Be Proud

Pride is one of those loaded words to me. Whenever I discuss with a client self pride, a shadow of horror usually casts across their face. I know what they're thinking. They are remembering the cocky kids in high school. They are remembering the stories at church about how pride is a sin. They also might be feeling guilty, inadequate, or ashamed for feeling any sort of self pride at all. So, I want to break something down for all of us that I've learned over the years. It's a way to talk about self pride- a healthy way to express true self esteem and confidence- and being very clear we aren't talking about selfish pride- which comes from a low self esteem and a need to brag, boast, or cause harm to feel powerful.

Self pride is necessary for a few reasons:
1. We may not be receiving the well deserved acknowledgment from our hard work and efforts leaving us feeling dry, unappreciated, and forgotten. Those feelings create resentment and can lead us to work less or stop caring about our life. When we give ourselves a pat on the back, and feel a pride in what we are doing, we tend to work better and have a joyful experience in our accomplishments.

2. A healthy self esteem requires that we recognize how far we have come, and all that we are overcoming. Developing a sense of pride in who you are helps you to feel worthy to have a deep and personal relationship to God and the angels. It is easy to accept their love and feel their pride for us when we already feel good about ourselves.

3. It will be hard to appreciate others and be proud of them when we don't know  how to do it for ourselves. This can really hurt relationships- especially ones between parent and child, where our children thrive in our praise and acknowledgment. Never worry that you are giving anyone a "big head" or that you could ever push them into being conceded. Remember that selfish pride comes from not feeling good enough. When we lift others up around us- we give them permission to relax, they won't have to prove themselves anymore, and we can all share the pride in our accomplishments together.

Enjoy today's meditation. I have a feeling that you deserve some much needed appreciation. Go ahead, pat yourself on the back! Then go out there and appreciate the world!

Assertiveness

Today's Monday Meditation is on the word, Assertiveness.

I used to be terrified to stand up for myself, create boundaries, and say "no." I think it's because, like many others, I confused the word assertiveness with aggression. So I let people walk all over me and I ended up getting involved with people and situations that distracted me from my happiness and life's purpose. In fact, looking back I dare say I wasted a lot of time and created a lot more drama just by being afraid to put my foot down and communicate how I really felt. Once I learned the true definition of assertiveness, it was easy to begin living my life the way God wanted me to live- instead of only living for others.

Doreen Virtue wrote a book called, Assertiveness for Earth Angels that seriously saved my life in this area. In it she writes:

"Assertiveness means that you're aware of your feelings and opinions and that you state them to yourself and others in a way that respects other people's rights. An assertive person is kind, peaceful, and gentle yet never apologizes for his or her feelings, because feelings are to be honored and respected. Assertiveness is spiritually Divine, because it's a way of interacting that acknowledges that you are one and equal with others. Therefore, you have as much right to be happy as other people."

Today's meditation is going to help you clear away past fears and judgments around your assertiveness, and help you to trust yourself so that you can speak up! Enjoy.

I Resigned & Saw Magic Happen

So, I lasted 6 months at my big corporate job. This is not good news...
This is great news!

The last 6 months as an undercover mystic in the corporate world has given me so much insight as to what goes on in the world today. The politics, the stress of micro management, the pain of unrealistic expectations from an upper management who has never done your job, and the general treatment of people in the workforce as if they are machines. I can honestly say that my soul began to slowly wither in the cold dark winter months of living under someone's thumb in a cubical. I would get to work in the dark, and drive home in the dark. Like a plant that had been shoved down into some corner of a basement, my mind seemed to be turning brown at the edges. I struggled to use my self development tools, and started to question my worth, and wonder about my purpose. My self esteem plummeted, and as you may have noticed, I wasn't posting any original material. In short, everything in my life went dark.

During the same 6 months, my boyfriend moved back to California and I found myself not only feeling stressed out at my new job and lifestyle (I went from being a full time entrepreneur into a full time job in high pressure sales), I also began to feel very alone and unsure about everything in my life. However, through it all, there was a tiny little spark inside of me that just wouldn't give up. It kept reminding me where to go to feel whole, healed, and complete. This little spark kept the memory of my one true place of light and peace.

With this little spark in the dark, I did not allow myself to be overcome with grief and sadness. I did not let my heart become bitter. Instead, I followed it to my Father God and to my Mother Goddess. My conversations with them became very real, very raw, and very powerful. After my boyfriend left, I decided to make God the man of my life and the man of the house. I would spend hours talking to my Heavenly Parents every night, expressing to them my fears and worries. Through these conversations, I began to regain my trust in them, and in myself. I was guided to start taking supplements that assist people who have Seasonal Disorder and to join an 8 week boot camp that would hold me accountable for working out. Throughout the day, my attention was brought to little things like a random feather floating through the air, or a magnificent frosty winter sunset. I could tell that my team of angels were doing their best to help me notice special moments that would lift my spirits. Never in my life have I felt so supported by Heaven. It was almost as if the moment I would start getting down on myself, something would happen to cheer me up. A song would come onto the radio, a friend would randomly call, my son would come upstairs and share a joke, a coworker would offer to take me to lunch. No matter how stressed out or sad I became, it seemed there was a pick-me-up just around the corner. It was, if I may use the word lightly, MAGICAL.

February 18th, I attended a very small gathering of people who celebrated the life of a friend who had passed away. The interesting thing about death, is that it really makes you think about life. She was my age and I wondered what sort of regrets I would have if I died at this time in my life. I have more books inside of me, I have a lot to teach and to share. I see people who are hungry for the wisdom I have gained over the years and something about the prospect of leaving this planet without pouring my love completely and wholeheartedly into it made something come alive on the inside of me. That very night, I had a long and open conversation with my Heavenly Parents who lovingly told me in my heart that I have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and that it was safe to start working on my dream life again.

Conveniently, I happened to get super sick and had to take the next week off to do nothing but lay in bed and recover. But I was recovering from much more than an illness. I was recovering from thinking I was unable to really teach, write, mentor, and make money using my gifts to provide for me and my son. I was recovering from a broken heart, and broken plans. I was letting go of things that no longer served me, thoughts that disturbed me, feelings of insecurity and fears that tormented me. I was recovering from the harsh corporate world that told me every single day that I wasn't good enough. By the time I arose from that week of recovery, it was the easiest thing in the world to walk into my boss's office and give him my two week notice. I did it like a phoenix. I did it like a woman on fire, a woman with a renewed sense of purpose, and I did it with God, Goddess, and the entire Heavens cheering me on. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. On the way out to my car that day, I felt wind in my hair, I felt flowers at my feet, and the magical mystic that I AM was reborn!

What I learned from all of this this is two things:
1. No matter what you are going though, no matter who has hurt you or let you down, you have a Heavenly family who will literally do everything in their power to help you and to guide you. We truly are never alone, but we must go to our Source and have the hard conversations instead of avoiding them. God wants to hear it all, and He's got all day and night to listen. There is nothing more important than you! If you are afraid to take the steps you are shown, ask for courage, ask for intervention, ask for signs and reassurance. Heaven won't let you down!!

2. Magic is all around us all of the time. I am convinced that when we forget to notice it, we die inside. There is nothing wrong with believing that a sunset was painted for no other reason than for you to see it and enjoy it. Trust me, I know how hard it is to believe in magic when you are down in the dumps, but the most incredible time to notice it is when you are wavering in disbelief. Magic is that moment when you realize that everything is in Divine order and timing. It's when you realize that everything that is happening to you right now is for your benefit- even the hard stuff. Magic happens when you have every reason to stop trusting and believing, but something inside of you sparks a bit of faith and you let that tiny little spark set you on fire. Magic happens in your life when you choose to believe anyway. And then things start to happen. Life begins to make sense again. Don't give up believing in the magic of life- EVER.

So what's next for me? I have some fun things up my sleeve for you, reader. Stay tuned because the Modern Mystic is back!
